Brief Description:  Flight #4, Flt test #3, Validate engine reliabili

Been looking into my low static rpm problem. Checked plugs, they appear clean but perhaps running too lean. Re-checked fuel flow to the carb, getting about 30 GPH with 7 gallons in the tank. Checked timing. Looked like the secondary was a bit retarded, so adjusted the trigger CCW to line up with the indicator marks. Checked the throttle slide was full open when it should be. I had richened the slide needle about 1/2 turn and reset that to what it was as delivered. Backed out the mixture lever in case that was resticting fuel flow at full rich. In that position the seat would not be shut off completely at full lean. Ran the engine but couldn't seem to lean it so returned to the original mixture lever setting. On runup I could lean the engine and fully shut off the fuel flow.

I checked the fuel flow "dripping" out the carb at full rich and WOT, and had about 1-1/2 GPH. Checked with Sonex on this and they said they don't measure this because manifold vacuum increases the flow rate, but my numbers seemed about normal.

I haven't found a definite reason for the low rpm, but ran the engine several times and could get a steady 2900-2950 static rpm with only about a 10-20 rpm drop between ignitions.

Did two touch and goes and the engine ran smoothly and "normal". Still not getting 3000+ static rpm, but from web posting, this should improve as the engine gets broken in.

I found the mag checks did not match well below about 2200 RPM, but were right on at over about 2600 RPM. Also the engine would run rough on the mags below about 2200.
